How much to fulfil a goal??

I have discovered that the cost to fulfil a 10km running goal costs around about $75.00.
Of course, this is not taking into account the hundreds of dollars spent at the gym, the expensive jogging sneakers, new shorts and tank tops, as well as tanks of petrol to drive to the gym....

No, this is just the cost of the entry fee for the GOLD COAST 10KM RACE!! That's right, I registered and paid it and now I'm waiting for July 3, 2010 where, at 7:45am I will stand at that starting line and the gun will sound and I will run the race I've been training for for the past 6 months! I put myself down in the 2nd heat which is for people running over 1 hour. I will try to complete it in an hour or as close to that as I can, but I didn't want to be in the 1st heat with all the pros (some finish it in under 35 minutes! ...R.U.Kidding.Me?? :-0 ...) and I'll be the one coming last and then the 2nd heat people will pass me and I'll feel like quitting. Hence, I'm hoping that by me being in the 2nd heat I'll actually feel as though I'm running a good race and hey, it might be ME passing the slow trailers in the first heat! ah ha haaaa! That's right, I'm going to overtake them all!!!!! Mwah-ha-ha-haaaaaa!!!!!! ;-) ...yeah right! I'm just hoping I actually FINISH the race at this point!!! There are lots of things that can happen as you're running: shin splints, dehydration, sprained ankles, hunger, a painful stitch, tripping, fatigue, needing to go to the toilet, etc, etc, etc. You NEVER can tell what is going to happen, even if you prepare the best you can...... On that note, I think I'll go practice........

  2. As I type, I imagine you're running!

Woohoo! Can't wait to hear how you go! I heard about the race on the radio last night driving home, and I thought 'hmmm. Maybe I could train and do that next year...' haha!

    Good luck!
