I know I seem to write a lot of things about Eadie's funny little ways, but it's just that, well she gives me so much to work with!! But it probably all evens out in the end, because looking through our printed blog book for years 2010-2011, Eadie was just a baby, around 10 months when I started, and was about 18 months when I finished that book. So Vettoria was the hilarious trouble maker with funny pics and cute comments on almost every page. Now, as Eadie is the two and a half year old, it's simply her turn.
Today's post refers to the weird things she does when the lights are turned out.
For about a month now Eadith has refused to sleep an entire night in her bed. We have a pretty well established rule/pattern of bedtime around 7pm with lights out, etc. It has worked great... until now. For some reason, after the lights are turned out and Juan and I are comfortably watching T.V in our room, Eadie will sneak out of her bed and just camp somewhere else. We have found her all over the house. In the lounge room, in the quiet room, on the floor in her room, even on the floor at the foot of our bed! No blanket, just her, the poor thing just laying there, sometimes freezing.
For the first week, when we had the T.V in the lounge room, we would come out early morning or late evening and find laying down asleep in front of the T.V. which she would have turned on to whatever channel we left it on. We would carry her back into her room, but five times out of ten she would wander back out again during the night! It got to the point, to Juan's dismay, where I actually put a blanket out on the couch for her so that if and when she wandered out she would at least not freeze as the lay there all night.
Anyway, it's happening at least 5-6 times a week, if not every single night. We have no idea what to do about it. She says she just doesn't like sleeping in her bed. Even camping on the floor in her room is a more attractive offer to her. We even put a gate up so she couldn't come out into the living area, but that night instead of walking out she just stood at the gate at 3am yelling "Mum! I'm stuck! Mum! I can't get out!" for ages until I woke up and heard her. I walked up to her and said, "What are you doing?" to which she said, "There's a gate, I can't get out". I reminded her we put it there so that she couldn't get out, and she began complaining so much I let her sleep on her little pull out couch we have put in her room as our 'compromise' for the 3am wake-ups where she refuses to get into her bed but agrees not to sleep on a couch. Ey-ey-ey.. What do you do with that, anyway?
Right now I think it's funny and something that she will just grow out of (hopefully, or her husband is in trouble!) but now that Anabel's finally sleeping through the night from 7pm to 5am, it's also absolutely annoying, as now I'm getting up every night to tend to our midnight wanderer! I swear, a mother can NEVER catch a break..
