Princess Profile

Name: Anabel Joy Montes
Nick-name: Bel (although Daddy tries to call her Ana, but even he forgets to call her by that!)
Age: Almost 22 months old
Height: 82cm
Who's Girl?: Mummy's Girl
Best Friend: Eadith when she wants to have fun, and Vettoria when she needs help with something :-)
Favorite drink: Water. Anabel drinks around 6 litres of water a day (not including nights). No exaggeration. She sculls about 250mls every 40-60 minutes and demands a refill at every opportunity. There have been times when she has had two bottles rotating at once! Don't get me started on the nappies!! Keeping this girl DRY is a full time job! We have to change her clothes at LEAST twice a day. It's ridiculous. You'd think I'd be a pro at keeping a baby dry after 5 years, but an umbrella couldn't keep this girl dry, I swear to you, it is impossible. We have to change her nappy while she is asleep before we go to bed. If we're lucky the bed wont be soaked through by 10pm. But if we miss it, a change of clothes and new sheets becomes a normal part of our night.
Favorite food: French fries. Heaven help us, she would eat McDonald's fries all day if she had the chance. She also loves candy, don't get me started...
Favorite T.V. Show: Dora the Explorer and Go Diego Go
Favorite Movie: Finding Nemo. She has just discovered it this past fortnight, and I am not exaggerating when I tell you that she watches it every day. She just loves it. I think Nemo will have a part to play in her up coming 2nd birthday party... I see an orange and blue theme happening...
Favorite Toy: Bel loves taking things out and then putting them back in. Whether it's blocks, beans, pencils... out and in, out and in, out and back in again. She also loves her sketch-a-pad and, of course, BUBBLES!
Favorite things to do: Swing on swings. Make people laugh. Dance to all types of music.
Something she is good at: Going to bed on time at 7pm (or sometimes earlier) every night and going straight to sleep.
Something she struggles with: Nursery. Ever week at church we STRUGGLE with getting Bel to stay in nursery by herself. Almost five months of nursery every week and Juan and I still have to sit with her through the class, otherwise she screams the place down. A couple of weeks ago we seemed to have a pretty good setup where Daddy would sneak out while she was eating her lunch.. We were progressing finally, only to have it revert back after a few weeks when we went to a different ward one Sunday... *sigh*....
She loves: when daddy suddenly scares her! She jumps a foot in the sky and then breaks down laughing and asks for more (the total opposite of mummy!)  Daddy loves it! She also loves saying "Weeee!!!" as she goes up and down hills in the car. It makes the other two also do it, and it becomes a funny game as we drive :-)
She hates: Eating vegetables!! For the life of me I cannot get this girl to eat a vegie!! I guess it's a good thing she drinks so much water, and also, she does love fruit like bananas, grapes, and watermelon. But sheesh, a carrot every once in a while wouldn't go astray, seriously?!

Personality:
Where do I start? No child on this earth is loved more than she. We all just adore her. Anabel is so much fun! I've said it from the beginning, but seriously she just gets funner and funner. Don't get me wrong, when she wants to chuck a wobbly, she will. When she gets in trouble, she just breaks down there and then. She does not like being told she has done something wrong. This look of complete and utter sadness will come over her chubby little face, and tears will stream down her cheeks as if the world was coming to an end. And she will stay like that until someone consoles her or distracts her.

But when she is happy, she is the happiest little girl in the world. She loves to play and romp. By 'romp' I mean, throw herself around on top of people and tickle and be tickled. She opens her mouth and smears kisses on you she she lets you toss her to and fro across the bed or the floor or the couch. She loves to be held and hugged and snuggled and thrown about. Ugh, don't get me started on her being thrown about! If you make the mistake of tossing her into the air or swinging her in your arms or between your legs, you're in trouble! Her favorite word is probably, "More", which she says over and over again until you have to disappoint her by saying "No more, mummy's arms are sore", or "No more bubby, daddy has to go to work".

Bel loves to dance. To all types of music. Whether it's the Wiggles or Playschool, mummy's country songs or daddy's R&B, she pokes her bum out, shakes her head back and forth, and bounces her legs go up and down as she bops along. It's hilarious! It never ceases to make us all laugh.

All day every day we laugh with her/at her, and she is just a light that brightens my day. My mum used to say something to me that I always loved hearing. She used to say, "Since you were a little girl you have always made us laugh. If all of my kids were gone away, I would miss you making me laugh the most". And I now know exactly what she means. Because that is the way I feel about my Anabel. Each child offers something individual that I would miss the most. I would miss Tori's way of making me feel like the most important person in the entire world the most; I would miss Eadie's spontaneity and gung-ho attitude towards life the most; and Bel, I would miss the way she makes me smile and laugh out loud, day after day, after day.

We love you baby Bel!

Thanks to Santa!

Yay for scooters!! :-D

Despite the fact that only Tori asked for a scooter, Santa thought it in the best interest of everyone that Eadie also receive her own scooter to play with as well. Thank you Santa!

Little did he know that she would take to it like a duck to water, and every single day the two of them ride up and down, up and down the hallway, into the lounge and back to the front door again. It's so much fun, and Juan and I love having a ride as well! What did we do without them? How boring it is to walk now! :-P

It was actually funny to see how both girls reacted to their new toys. Vettoria rode straight and steady, making her way from one end of the house to the other. Eadie however, as suspected, zoomed from place to place, pushing herself as fast as she could, turning left and right, both feet on the plate, zipping around like a pro. Of course, she also fell off more times than we could count, but to see her take to something so quickly and love it so much was a real treat for us. (Especially since all she asked for Christmas was a skipping rope!) She had proved to be quite expert already on Tori's bike when I took her to the bike park one day. I was shocked to see her riding around like she had been doing it for years! Their two opposite personalities never since to amaze me. It took hours of running next to Tori holding the back of the bike as she cried "Don't let go mum!" as we rode (I ran) up and down the driveway again and again. Eadie? No way. "Let go mum, I got it!" were the words she yelled. It was like she was 10 months old, shouting "I do it! I do it!" as I tried to buckle her seat belt in the car, all over again.

But watching Eadie has actually sky rocketed Tori's confidence to go-go-go, and now she's zooming around with her! She does new 'tricks' on the driveway, going down hills and weaving around toys and chairs. I have to stop myself from saying "Careful girls!" every 10 minutes throughout the day. But one thing I am confident of, is that they are both better at staying on than I am, and a lot more fearless! :)

Looks like we have a new favorite family activity!

Through their eyes...

Every now and again I'll let the kids run wild with the camera, and the results always make me laugh :-)
There's chocolate smeared on faces, funny dance poses, cutest smiles ever, and lots of tongue poking!

These latest pics, taken a couple of weeks ago are my faves so far and I just had to put them in here. It's so cute to see what the girls do when they want to 'show off ' and act like 'grown ups'. They are such posers, it always makes me laugh. And at the same time I see these pics and I can't believe how fast they are growing, nor how old they look as they smile and laugh with each other! It blows me away.

(Meanwhile, something I hope does not blow you away is my completely make-up-less face and feral hair!.... Eeek!!! :-/ These pics were not planned  ...Please don't judge!!)

See what I mean? Haha, love it! :-)

DECEMBER 2012

Sooo much has happened lately, I am just going to label this post December, and let the stories fall as they will! but I will say this... the best part about this December has by far been the fact that Juan has been home for two weeks of it. :-)  And we still have a whole week to go before he goes back to work! Yay!

Ok, let's get on to whatever has been going on... I'll let the pics do the talking for a bit...

1)Christmas Lights:

2) Christmas Eve:

Had to make sure we got 'Santa' some good cookies!!! ;-)

3) Christmas DAY!

Juan got up at in the middle of the night to put this shelf together for me!! (I thought I heard a bang!) I LOVE my new shelf. I'll show you what I've done with it soon!

That time on the clock reads somewhere just after 5am....

"He came! Santa really came!" ...So cute!!

Let the opening begin!!

:-) Love it!

So exciting! :-)

This was the ONLY thing Eadie asked Santa for -- TWICE!

 So cuuute!!

I think they loved getting that chocolate most of all!

Two big boxes..... What could they be??

A pink scooter! "It's just what I asked Santa for!" :-)

 Love this pic!!

Later that day:

New scooters!! And I might add, this house is PERFECT for riding from one end of the house to the other!

That nail polish is pulled out and applied to someone... every. single. day.

Annual family Christmas Day photo at the 'Hunt' Family Brunch..

Which, I might add is more of a family 'breakfast' now that we all have kids... with them up at 5am, who can wait around until 10am for brunch? No-one!! It's breakfast at 8.30 now days. I'm sure this will change when they're teenagers though... lol.. :)

It was a lovely Christmas morning at Alisha's house with the Christinsons and the Hunts. We sat, we ate, we opened more presents. We skyped mum, dad and Sarah in America and caught up with them. It was great.

After brunch our family made our way over to Abuelita's house to hang out with her for a few hours, which was a nice change from our usual Christmas day. (Abuelo is away in El Salvador at the moment). We had already had a Montes Christmas gathering a couple of days before which was a very dramatic and crazy affair. I wont go into detail, as they are not the most pleasant to re-tell, but I'll just say that it involved Eadie, a car, a driveway, and a hospital. However, we are all fine and safe and well now. That's all you'll get from me.

We then came home and spent the day enjoying eachother's toys and company. Ooh, and did I mention I also got a Bon Jovi CD (which I have wanted since I was like 13 years old!), also a Bras n Things voucher (which I'm sure Juan was disappointed that I spent on new pajamas and a robe rather than lingerie, haha :), plus a few other nic nacs which I wanted but it wont sound very exciting to anyone reading this! Meanwhile, Juan scored cologne, a new Guy Sebastian CD (we didn't even mention we were getting CDs for eachother, lol) and a new tie. We actually count the entire month of December as our time to buy for our self things we want/need/want, and list it under the list of Christmas giving so having said that, I also totally decked out my new shelf, got a few new cute clothes, and Juan bought a new suit and new business shirts, LOL. Alas, the spirit of giving (to ourselves) has been in full swing for many weeks in our house.. ;-)

4) Tori graduated Kindy!

It's was so fun to go to our very first kid's school Christmas play! It also happened to be the last day of Kindy, and hence was also seen as Tori's graduation night. It was so adorable watching her in her little elf costume up on the stage singing to all the songs she had practiced and waving her arms about dancing. She was so happy and loved being in the spotlight! (Don't know where she gets that from... :)
My camera wasn't working, so my friend Megan took some snaps of the night for us and they came out great. I also have a whole bunch of photos taken every day she was at kindy, given to us by her teachers that I will post on here soon.

Meanwhile, Well done Tori, we are so excited you are a big girl kindy graduate!

6) Santa Clause!

So this year Megan and I decided to be daring and take all our kids into the city ON THE BUS and go see Santa in the Myer Center. Insane? Or just awesome!? :-)

It was surprisingly easy and fun actually, and we were shocked at how stress-free we managed it to be. We were totally expecting drama and mayhem as we took my three and her two in and out of buses and walking through the crowded city. Instead, we arrived in perfect time to catch the bus in, found spots to sit with reasonable comfort, despite bringing two prams with us, and made our way to the fifth floor of Myer to find that we were the first people in line! So the kids hopped on the kiddie's train and around and around they went as we waited to go in and see Santa. While visiting with him,Tori asked for a skooter and Eadie asked for a skipping rope. The kids loved it!

Ok, I take that back... Eadie and Tori loved seeing Santa... but in usual Anabel style, there was a freakout from her and, I'm embarrassed to say I listened to the suggestions to hold her for the photo so she could be in it, despite the tears.... ugh.  Anyway, I should have just taken one with Eadie and Tori, but instead this year's pic is of me and the girls sitting on Santa's knee.... Not my best three minutes. I actually dressed the girls up all color coordinated with red hues, so I think it was just good luck that I happened to wear a khaki green shirt that day, because it was the last thing I was thinking about as I sat on that Santa's knee and prayed the moment would end soon.

By the time we came out from seeing Santa, there were huge lines waiting to go in, so we counted ourselves super lucky and totally awesome :-)

After seeing Santa, the good luck continued! We headed to the city and got a snack and made our way to a city park where there just so happened to be some kids games set up for people to play with! What luck! But then it started raining, so we walked back to the bus stop. Get this - Up pulls the bus five seconds later, and we were the only ones on it all the way home! What a lucky break! We walked back to Megan's and spent the rest of the day hanging out. It was a really nice time and the kids loved it. Even Bel enjoyed the bus ride at least! :-)

Hey, is Santa looking at me instead of the camera? No wonder I felt uncomfortable on that knee!!

Merry Christmas to all! And much love from us. xx
